The population of country of Tanzania has been determined using the 2012 census. This was carried out on the 26th of August of 2012. This Population and Housing census for the united republic of Tanzania was the fifth census since 1964 when Tanganyika and Zanzibar merged together to form Tanzania. Approximately 98% of Tanzania's population are Dark skinned Africansand the rest descendig from Arabs, Europeans, Asians from India and Pakistan. The Africans belong to approximately 120 ethnic groups none of which are large enough to control the country this has helped the Government to develop a sense of unity within the Nation.
